PETERBOROUGH-Three people are facing impaired driving charges after being stopped by Peterborough Police over the weekend.
An officer on general patrol in the Romaine Street and Park Street area saw a vehicle allegedly travelling at a high speed at approximately 10:30 pm on October 14.
The officer followed the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle continued to the area of Park Street and Albert Street where it was pulled over but the driver fled according to police. A perimeter was set up and K9 Isaac located a man hiding behind a shed in a backyard.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Race a motor vehicle
Officers were called to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Parkhill Road West and Reid Street at approximately 8:15 pm on October 15.
Upon arrival, officers noticed that a traffic control box had been damaged and a vehicle off the road. Â The intersection was closed while the traffic control box was repaired and police investigated.
As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Police were called after a vehicle hit a hydro pole in the Tupper Street and Centre Street area at approximately 11:30 pm on October 15. The driver was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Township of Cavan-Monaghan man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
All three accused were issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
