PETERBOROUGH-Officers with Peterborough County OPP observed a parked vehicle with a trailer containing three personal watercrafts on Highway 28 at approximately 11:45 a.m. yesterday morning. A wellbeing check was conducted on the sleeping occupants. Police say further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from the Toronto area and the trailer containing three personal watercraft had been stolen from the Bancroft area. Officers seized methamphetamine, break-in instruments and cell phones during a search of the vehicle according to police.
38-year-old Shawna Newton of Toronto, was charged with:

⢠Possession of property obtained by crime-under $5000
⢠Possession break-in instruments
33-year-old Michael Sousa of Toronto, was charged with:
⢠Possession of a Schedule I substance-methamphetamine
⢠Possession of property obtained by crime-over $5000-four counts
⢠Possession of property obtained by crime-under $5000
⢠Possession break-in instruments
⢠Obstruct peace officer
⢠Failure to comply with release order
The accused are scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough later today.
