KAWARTHA LAKES-A 34-year-old Lindsay man is facing charges after a string of thefts from delivery trucks and mailboxes.
Kawartha Lakes police officers say they observed a male attempting to enter a delivery truck while the driver was inside a William Street North business in Lindsay making a delivery on July 21, 2022 at 4:48AM
Police say when the officer recognized the male, who was wanted for a number of outstanding offences, attempted to speak with the male, he fled on foot. He was captured a short distance away and arrested.
Four incidents were reported between June 15 and July 20 where someone had entered multiple vehicles and mailboxes taking items, including a debit card which was later used at a local business.
The accused was identified with the assistance of video surveillance according to police. 34-year-old Troy Sprague of Lindsay is charged with break, enter dwelling house with intent, possession of break in instruments, break and enter a place – commit indictable offence, mischief to property, theft under $5000 X3, use of credit card, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 X3 and fail to comply with probation order X5.
The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on July 21, 2022 for a bail hearing.Â
