SIU Investigating After Toronto Police Officer Shot Man In Oshawa This Morning

KAWARTHA LAKES-The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU)is investigating after a Toronto Police Service officer shot a man this morning in Oshawa.

Preliminary information from the SIU suggests at about 6 a.m. on July 20, 2022, Toronto Police Service officers executed multiple warrants as part of an ongoing investigation at a residence near Simcoe Street North and Windfields Farm Drive West in Oshawa.

During an interaction outside the residence, one officer shot his firearm and struck a man. Paramedics took the man to hospital where he remains.

Five SIU investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
One subject official and two witness officials have been designated at this time according to the SIU.
