Pontypool Man Charged With Causing $100,000 Damage At Whitby Motel

KAWARTHA LAKES- A 41-year-old Pontypool man is facing charges after he allegedly caused extensive damage at a Whitby Motel on Saturday morning.

On Saturday, July 9, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to a call at a motel on Consumers Drive and Garden Street.

Police say officers arrived to find the suspect had damaged property, pulled the fire alarm, deployed several fire extinguishers and was generally causing a disturbance. All the customers had to evacuate the premise due to the disturbance and fire alarm that was activated according to officers. Property damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.

Paul Trenwith, age 41, of Pontypool was charged with: Mischief Over $5,000; Make False Fire Alarm; Cause Disturbance and Unlawfully Possess Schedule I Substance (crack-cocaine)

He was held for a bail hearing.
