Rogers Says It Is “Making Progress” After Now 12 Hour Outage Of Cell And Internet Service

KAWARTHA LAKES-Rogers says it is “making progress” in finding a solution to the now 24-hour outage for thousands of cell and internet and debit customers across Canada.

“Our technical teams are working to restore our services alongside our global technology partner and are making progress.” said a Tweet this afternoon from the company.

A major outage began around 4 am this morning with thousands reporting a lack of service across Canada. In some cases, 911 lines were also impacted. Bell, Telus and others are also experiencing issues but not to the same degree. Officials from Bell say their network is online and any problems are when users try to interact with someone on a Rogers network.  Although some users are also reporting issues with Bell internet as well.

“Some bell customers may be experiencing issues they trying to call or text Rogers subscribers due to current interruptions in Rogers Network services. The Bell network is operational”

A number of retail outlets were unable to accept Interac purchases as debit machines were also impacted.

There’s no timeline on when service will be fully restored or what caused the outage.

“We know how much you rely on our networks. Today we have let you down. We are working to make this right as quickly as possible.”
