Police Investigate Fatal Shooting In Cobourg

COBOURG-A man is dead following a shooting in downtown Cobourg this morning.

The shooting happened on a busy street in broad daylight. Police say at 10:06 a.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots in the area of King Street and Division Street. As a result, a single male was found in front of the Jamaican Patty House on King Street and was rushed to Northumberland Hills Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The area was locked down and residents asked to avoid the area.

Police say this is an active investigation but no arrests have been reported or suspects identified.

The OPP has taken the lead on the investigation and police remain on the scene in front and back of the business.

There’s no word on a motive.
