Motorcycle Driver Airlifted To Toronto Hospital With Life-Threatening Injuries After Crash Near Lakefield

PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews are currently on scene of a serious motor vehicle collision which occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning on Northeys Bay Road at Fire Route 19 near Lakefield.

A motorcycle and a car were involved in a head-on collision. The operator of the motorcycle has been airlifted to a Toronto area hospital with life-threatening injuries according to police.

Northeys Bay Road is closed between Highway 28 and County Road 6 while members trained in collision reconstruction measure and document the scene. The closure will remain in place for several hours while police investigate.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage and has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP Detachment at 705-742-0401 or 1-888-310-1122.
