Police Release Name Of Victim In Fatal Workplace Accident In Trent Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES-Members of the Peterborough County Detachment OPP have identified the victim of a fatal worksite accident in the Municipality of Trent Lakes.

On May 10, 2022, shortly after 6:45 a.m., the Peterborough County OPP responded to a report of two unresponsive victims at Buckhorn Sand and Gravel, an aggregate quarry on Bass Lane. Police say the initial investigation revealed that the victims had been trapped between two vehicles. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries prior to being flown to a Toronto area hospital via air ambulance.

The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Dustin Aubrey of North Kawartha Township.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) is investigating the cause of the accident with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
