Peterborough County OPP Easter Long Weekend Seat Belt Campaign Results In A Number Of Charges

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Peterborough County OPP responded to 152 calls for service along with traffic enforcement that yielded numerous charges in support of the OPP’s Provincial Easter Long Weekend Seat Belt Campaign that ran from April 15 – 18, 2022.

The charges include the following:

• Seatbelts – 26

• Stunt Driving – 3

• Speeding – 153

• Other Highway Traffic Act – 60

• Insurance-related charges- 11

Police say seatbelts can help to protect a driver or a passenger in a collision and minimize injuries. Those who do not wear their seatbelts while in a vehicle put themselves at a greater risk of severe injury or even death.

If you have information about suspected unlawful activity, please visit Crime Stoppers at: stopcrimehere.ca or call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
