Traffic Stop On Highway 7 Leads To Drug And Impaired Driving Charges

KAWARTHA LAKES-Members of the Peterborough County OPP stopped a vehicle for an alleged Highway Traffic Act offence on Highway 7 at approximately 9:00 am yesterday morning. Police say a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of illicit drugs.

28 year old Christina Dunlop of Peterborough, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus

• Possession of a Schedule I substance-cocaine

• Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

• Speeding

• Possession of a Schedule I substance-ecstasy

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 26, 2022.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
