Lindsay Schools On Hold And Secure After Reports Of Multiple Shots Fired On Peel Street

UPDATE: HOLD AND SECURE LIFTED

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police are investigating a shooting this morning that prompted a Hold and Secure at Lindsay schools.

Police say they received reports of multiple gunshots from a residence in the area of Peel Street and Albert Street at 11:13am. Officers have located a victim with gunshot wounds, the male been transported to hospital. Police believe this to be an isolated incident with no danger to the public. 

Lindsay Collegiate Vocational Institute, Leslie Frost Public School, Central Senior School, Queen Victoria Public School, Parkview Public School, and Alexandra Public School are in a hold and secure as a precaution.

In a hold and secure, exterior doors are locked and classroom routines and lessons continue. Students will not be permitted outside while a hold and secure is in place. Police are on the scene.
Police are asking residents to avoid the area of Peel/Albert Street and William and Orchard Park Road.
The Hold and Secure at area schools was lifted at approximately 1:20 pm
