City Of Kawartha Lakes Declares Significant Weather Event Due To Blowing And Drifting Snow

KAWARTHA LAKES-Due to the sustained winds and impacts on municipal maintenance resources, the City has declared a significant weather event related to the ongoing response as defined within Ontario Regulation 239/02 as of 1pm on February 20, 2022.

Officials say the primary concern is blowing and drifting snow that is impacting the ability to provide sufficient resources. This is due to Hours of Work legislation. Staff have been responding to the event since Thursday February 17 and are legislated to rest.

The public is reminded that snowdrifts are forming on roads that have been plowed and visibility is limited. Please drive with extra caution.
