Snow Squall Warning Issued For Lindsay And Southern Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Snow squall Warning for Lindsay and Southern Kawartha Lakes.

Periods of brief but intense snowfall are expected. Visibilities will be rapidly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow.

Hazards:
Significantly reduced visibilities in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Rapid snowfall accumulations up to 5 cm.
Strong westerly winds gusting up to 70 km/h.

Timing:
Now into early this afternoon. Strong wind gusts and blowing snow are likely to continue throughout the afternoon.

A sharp cold front is tracking over Southern Ontario bringing areas of heavy snow and widespread blowing snow conditions. Near zero visibility due to blowing snow is likely to continue into this afternoon.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Snow squall warnings are issued when brief but intense bursts of heavy snow will produce near zero visibilities.
