Second COVID-19 Outbreak Declared At Ross Memorial Hospital

KAWARTHA LAKES-Ross Memorial Hospital has declared a second COVID-19 outbreak.

This most recent outbreak is on the Surgical South floor.

“Ross Memorial currently has less than six COVID-19 positive staff members and less than six COVID-19 positive patients connected to the outbreak declared in our Surgical South Unit on February 14, 2022. Ryan Young, Communications Officer, Ross Memorial Hospital told Kawartha 411 News.

An outbreak on the Medical Unit was declared on February 4th.

“Ross Memorial currently has seven COVID-19 positive staff members and 10 COVID-19 positive patients connected to the outbreak declared in our Medical Unit on February 4, 2022.” Young said.

Ross Memorial says it doesn’t confirm the number of positive cases for staff or patients in specific units when there are five or fewer cases out of privacy concerns for those who have tested positive.

RMH’s COVID-19 vaccination policy for staff remains in effect. Staff, without an approved medical exemption, are required to be fully vaccinated (two doses).

There are currently 95 active cases of the virus in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
