Some Students From Across Kawartha Lakes Walk Out of Class To Protest Mask Mandates

KAWARTHA LAKES-Some students from across the Kawartha Lakes walked out of class today to protest masks mandates in schools.

Students from schools in Lindsay walked out of class at 2pm Friday and marched to MPP Laurie Scott’s office on Lindsay Street.

Parents report some adults driving by gave students the finger while one customer entering the business nearby called the kids “a**holes”

Approximately 12 kids walked out of Dunsford District Elementary School in Dunsford.

A handful of students were seen leaving LCVI in Lindsay.

The students were peaceful and respectful by all accounts.

Ontario Medical Officer of Health Dr Keiran Moore has said that the province is looking at removing all vaccine mandates but not the mask mandate for kids in school.

His comments go against a suggestion from Health Minister Christine Elliott just one day ago that the government had “no current plans” to lift either the proof of vaccination requirement or reconsider mandatory masking orders.

Both the federal and provincial government has announced strict consequences for protestors across Ontario. It is unclear how they will deal with students.

Many other provinces have stated they will be lifting vaccine passports and mask mandates.
