Domestic Assault With A Weapon And Forcible Confinement Charges Laid After Incident In Hotel Lobby

PETERBOROUGH-On December 26th, 2021 the Peterborough Police Service was called to a Lansdowne Street hotel after reports that a male was observed assaulting a female within the hotel lobby.

Police say the investigation revealed that the male had prevented the female from leaving the hotel room and had assaulted her by forcefully returning her to the room while striking her face on various parts of the hotel building in the process. Further investigation revealed that the male and female were once in a relationship according to police.

The Peterborough Police Service located the male suspects vehicle in close proximity to the hotel and subsequently conducted a vehicle stop. As a result of the stop, a 26-year-old male from Peterborough was arrested and charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm and Forcible Confinement.

The male was held in custody for a bail hearing on December 27th, 2021 at which time he was released from custody with a court date of January 12, 2022.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.
