KAWARTHA LAKES-The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR)has declared two new COVID-19 outbreaks in Lindsay.
An outbreak has been declared at Leslie Frost Public School after 5 student cases were reported. Three classrooms are closed.
A second outbreak was declared in the Lindsay Minor Hockey BB team. The health Unit told Kawartha 411 news there are currently nine cases associated with this outbreak and this number includes players, parents and team staff.
“Provincial guidance requires an outbreak be declared when two or more confirmed cases are identified as being transmitted in a setting within a 14-day timeframe.” Chandra Tremblay, HKPR said. “The Health Unit has been working with team officials and parents to provide specific steps for vaccinated or unvaccinated individuals to follow for isolating, testing and other prevention measures.”
Anyone entering an arena in the City of Kawartha Lakes is mandated to be fully vaccinated.
There have been 27 new cases of COVID-19 reported since Friday in the HKPR region. 13 of those are vaccinated, 14 unvaccinated.
There were 1536 new cases in Ontario today with 809 in the vaccinated, 601 unvaccinated, 33 partially protected and 93 unknown.
