KAWARTHA LAKES-Routine sanitary sewer flushing will be taking place in various areas of Lindsay beginning on September 20 and continuing until mid-late October 2021 according to the City of Kawartha Lakes .
Hours of work will be 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Why?
This preventative maintenance process is necessary to remove settled and accumulated material and to eliminate the potential for sanitary sewer main surcharging which can result in damage to property.
What happens?
During this process, the contractor will be setting up apparatus at manholes in the roadway and releasing pressurized water through the sanitary sewer main pipe to remove any buildup. As a result, a bubbling and/or vacuum effect may be noticed in your drains and toilets.
What residents need to know
It is recommended that residents close all toilet seats and cover any floor drains. In addition, in order to prevent sewer gases from migrating into the home, it is important to refill all plumbing traps by running the water in your sinks and floor drains after the work is complete.
