KAWARTHA LAKES-Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP say officers intercepted a driver who was allegedly found to be impaired during a RIDE program.
On July 16, 2021, just after 11:30 p.m. on Hartley Road in the Town of Woodville, officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Program, when a driver was stopped and an impaired driving investigation commenced.
As a result of the investigation, Curtis Popp, 34 years of age of City of Kawartha Lakes, was charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concertation (80 plus).
The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days and the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on August 5, 2021.
Police say impaired drivers continue to threaten the safety and lives of all road users. If you cannot drive sober, don’t drive. If you suspect an impaired driver, call 9-1-1.
