Trent Hills Resident Facing Charges After Allegedly Being Found Unresponsive Behind The Wheel

PETERBOROUGH-A 32-year-old Trent Hills resident is facing charges after allegedly being found unresponsive behind the wheel.

Members of the Peterborough County OPP responded to reports of a suspicious motor vehicle that was in the parking lot of a business on Highway 7 at approximately 12:15pm yesterday afternoon.

Police say the complainant reported that the vehicle was unplated and the driver was unresponsive. Officers attended and determined that the driver was allegedly under the influence of illicit drugs. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen from a business on Burnham Line according to police.

Zachariah Michel of Trent Hills, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

• Possession of a Schedule 1 substance-methamphetamine

• Possession property obtained by crime under $5000

• Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 18, 2021.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
