KAWARTHA LAKES-A recent traffic complaint received by Kawartha Lakes OPP resulted in the arrest of two people.
Police say on May 16, 2021 officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP responded to a traffic complaint related to a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner on Kawartha Lakes Road 121 near Highway 35. An officer located and stopped the alleged vehicle.
As a result of the ensuing investigation the driver, Brodie Upton, 31 years of age, of Trent Lakes, was charged with the following offences:
- Driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Fail to surrender insurance card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
The passenger, Sarah Johnson, 36 years of age, of Minden Hills, was arrested and charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) related offences:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin)
Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on June 17, 2021.
