KAWARTHA LAKES-The municipality of Kawartha Lakes is notifying residents being supplied drinking water from the Woods of Manilla municipal drinking water system, that the well that services this system has been temporarily taken offline for repairs.
In the meantime, potable water from the Lindsay Drinking Water System is being hauled to the Manilla distribution system to ensure that residents continue to be provided safe drinking water. Water from the Lindsay Drinking Water System meets all regulatory requirements prior to delivery.
Officials say residents may notice a difference in the taste and odour of the drinking water due to the difference in drinking water source. The Lindsay Drinking Water system draws its water from a surface water supply while the Manilla Drinking Water system draws its supply from a groundwater source.
Allowing the cold water tap to run for a few minutes or filling a container with water and placing it in the fridge will help with any taste or odour differences.
All water provided continues to be monitored and tested and is safe to drink according to the City.
There is no word on how long the repairs will take.
