Kawartha Lakes OPP Involved In Joint Drug Investigation In Curve Lake Resulting In Numerous Charges

KAWARTHA LAKES-A joint investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Curve Lake Anishinabek Police Service (APS) with the assistance of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP CSCU resulted in two suspects being arrested and charged with drug offences related to the trafficking of drugs in the First Nation Territory of Curve Lake.

Police say the accused were arrested after officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at a residence on Shigwok Crescent in Curve Lake on April 15th. Officers also seized cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and cash during the investigation.

Davelle MCClymont-Mackenzie (age 30) of Brampton, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine

• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid

• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-methamphetamine

• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Nicholas Peniston (age 23) of Mississauga, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine

• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid

• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-methamphetamine

• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused were released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 20, 2021.
