KAWARTHA LAKES-The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit is now reporting 33 cases of a Coronavirus variant in the City Of Kawartha Lakes to date. It’s unclear which variant it is.
That is up from five cases on March 16th.
Officials say Coronavirus variants spread more easily and make people sicker.
Eight new cases of the virus were reported on Thursday and six new cases today. There is currently 28 active cases of the virus in Kawartha Lakes with the health unit tracking 56 high risk contacts. One person is in Ross Memorial Hospital with the illness.
There’s been 601 confirmed cases of the virus to date in the City. The death toll stands at 55 and has not changed for months.
