KAWARTHA LAKES-The Kawartha Lakes OPP recently executed two Criminal Code related search warrants that resulted in the seizure of cash, gold, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police say on March 29, 2021 the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine unit, attended an Omemee area residence to execute one of the warrants. A second warrant was executed in the Peterborough area by the Peterborough Police Service.
Wessley Kurely, 22 years of age, of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, contrary to the Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to the CDSA
- Possession of a schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin) , contrary to the CDSA
The accused party is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on April 29, 2021.
Thomas Kurely, 59 years of age, of Omemee, was arrested and charged with the Criminal Code related offence of possession of property obtained by crime, over $5 000 – in Canada.
