KAWARTHA LAKES-The first doses of the Moderna vaccine will be administered on Tuesday, February 9th to all residents of Caressant Care, McLaughlin Road who have signed consent forms and have never tested positive for the virus according to officials.
Two additional residents died of the virus over the weekend bringing the death toll to 11. No new cases are reported today.
“Today we are reporting a total of 30 active residents, and 10 active staff cases.” Stuart Oakley, Communications Caressant Care told Kawartha 411 News. “We are pleased to see some stabilization happening and we are very glad to report that the first doses of the Moderna vaccine will be administered on Tuesday, February 9.”
Officials say they hope to begin family calls and virtual visits as soon as possible.
An outbreak was declared at the facility on January 9th after one positive case. To date, there have been 62 cumulative cases.
