18 New Cases Of Coronavirus in Kawartha Lakes Today

KAWARTHA LAKES-There is 18 new cases of Coronavirus in the City of Kawartha Lakes today according to the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit.

There are currently 59 active cases in Kawartha Lakes with the health unit tracking 47 high-risk contacts. To date, there have been 473 confirmed cases of the virus in Kawartha Lakes. Officials refuse to release the specific areas where the new cases are located however Kawartha 411 has learned there are 8 new cases at Caressant Care in Lindsay today.

According to the health unit, five people have been hospitalized in the last 14 days and three are in ICU. According to the health unit hospitalized cases include any resident of the HKPR area regardless of where they are hospitalized. Ross Memorial Hospital says they currently have one person in the hospital with Coronavirus.

Officials say they are averaging 692 tests per day in our area with more than 50,000 people tested to date. The percent positivity is 1.07 over the last seven days.

There have been 46 deaths to date.
