KAWARTHA LAKES-A fourth resident at Caressant Care has died amid a Coronavirus outbreak at the facility.
“We are saddened by the losses it is very heartbreaking and our thoughts continue to be with those who have been affected by this outbreak.” Stuart Oakley, Communications, Caressant Care told Kawartha 411 News.
According to Oakley there’s now 17 active resident cases and 15 active staff cases at the McLaughlin Road facility. An outbreak was declared at the facility on January 9th after one person was confirmed positive for Coronavirus. As of last Monday there was 44 cases at the facility with 21 residents and 23 staff infected.
Caressant Care on Mary Street West is also in outbreak with one staff member testing positive on the Long Term Care side. On the retirement side there are two positive staff cases and they remain at home in isolation.
Residents have begun previously scheduled vaccinations today. Future vaccinations have been rescheduled after a delay in shipments.
