Local Resident Charged In Connection To Stolen Vehicle

KAWARTHA LAKES-Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP arrested and charged a local resident in relation to the theft of a vehicle.

Police say on January 10, 2021 officers were dispatched to the theft of a vehicle from the area of King’s Wharf Road. The vehicle owner had parked it in that vicinity in order to spend some time ice fishing. On returning to the area a few hours later, it was discovered that the vehicle was gone and police were contacted.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle a short distance from the scene, in a ditch on its roof. The ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest of Charles Smith, 34 years of age, who was charged with the Criminal Code offence of theft of motor vehicle.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on March 4, 2021.
