OPP Charge Three People With Impaired Driving

KAWARTHA LAKES-Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP have arrested the following individuals for impaired driving offences.

Police say on December 19, 2020, at approximately 5:30pm, officers responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the Coboconk area.

Following an investigation the vehicle was located and the driver, 48 year old Dale BRAUER of Minden, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  •  Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drug contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the CCC
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Drive While Child Passenger Not Properly Secured contrary to the HTA

On December 21, 2020 at approximately 6:30am, officers responded to a vehicle in the ditch in the Cameron area. Following an investigation two young persons from Lindsay were charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drug contrary to the CCC
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance contrary to the CDSA
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm contrary to the CCC
  • Possession of Over 30 g of Dried Cannabis contrary to the Cannabis Act

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Youth Division in February 2021.

Police say drivers need to remember that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Do your part in keeping our roads safe by planning ahead and arranging for a safe ride home.
