Local Rugby Star, Husband And Father Of Two Passes Away At Age 27

KAWARTHA LAKES-By all accounts Jake Webster was a good man and a fierce competitor on the pitch.

The 27 year old rugby star, originally from Woodville, passed away on December 7th. Jake represented Canada in the men’s 7’s and World Junior U15, 17 and U19. Before rising to this level he was a junior and men’s player with the Lindsay Rugby Football Club.

“It is with heavy hearts that the Lindsay Rugby Football Club shares the news about the loss of Jake Webster.” said the club on Facebook. “Jake was a fierce competitor on the pitch and a loyal teammate and friend off the pitch.”

A Go Fund Me campaign has been set up to help his wife and young children.

“Jake is loved by so many and always will be. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend. He created communities wherever he went; through sports, farming, hunting, and his work as a firefighter in Pickering. His witty, funny, energetic and caring personality will never be forgotten.” said the organizer in the Go Fund Me campaign.

The organizer went on to say “Jake was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Jake’s family now needs our help. He leaves behind his wife, Maggie, their son William (2 years old) and their daughter Millie (11 months).”

The campaign has already reached almost $100,000 so far.

“If anyone wishes to assist during this trying time, it would be greatly appreciated. We want to thank you in advance for any love and support that you can provide the Webster family.” the organizer stated.
