Traffic Complaint Leads To Arrest

KAWARTHA LAKES – A 63 year old man from Oshawa has been arrested after an officer from the city of Kawartha Lakes responded to a traffic complaint.

According to police, on November 24, shortly after 11 p.m. the Kawartha Lakes  police officer located a vehicle on Highway 35 near Cambray Road that was being operated in an erratic manner.

According to police, the officer initiated a traffic stop and the investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Anthony Pereira, 63, who is also charged with operation while impaired with alcohol and drugs, with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.

Pereira is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on January 14, 2021, police said.

The OPP’s Festive R.I.D.E. campaign kicks off this week and runs until January 3, 2021. The OPP is praising proactive citizens for doing their part to help keep these dangerous drivers off our roadways.
