KAWARTHA LAKES-A woman was robbed at the bank machine in Coboconk just before 8am this morning.
Police say at approximately 8:00 a.m. officers received information that a person using an ATM had been approached by an unknown suspect who brandished a conducted energy weapon (CEW) and demanded cash.
The woman she was at the bank machine with her back to the door when she heard the door open but no one went to the machine beside her. She turned around and the suspect was right behind her. She says the suspect pointed the taser at her and told her to get on the floor before fleeing with her cash. She was not physically harmed but is extremely unnerved by the altercation.
The Canine Unit was called in after the suspect fled the area on foot and remains at large.
The suspect is described as male, 5’6″ in height, approximately 40 years of age, with black hair, wearing a black jacket, black mask and a black toque. Â The OPP is actively seeking this person and the investigation is on-going.
The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their surroundings and personal safety at all times.
