KAWARTHA LAKES-A Lindsay man is facing charges of threatening a Canadian Member of Parliament.
Police say on September 28, 2020 the Royal Canadian Mounted Police contacted the Kawartha Lakes Police Service to share information about a Lindsay resident who was alleged to have made threats online to cause harm to an MP.
The Kawartha Lakes Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch took over the investigation, and on September 29, 2020 a 42-year-old Lindsay man was arrested and charged with threatening to commit an offence against an internationally protected person, and uttering a threat to cause bodily harm.
The man was held in custody to attend a bail hearing, and was later remanded into custody.
Police say the name of the accused is not being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing. The name of the MP who was reportedly threatened has also not been released.
