Santa Day in Fenelon Falls cancelled this year due to Coronavirus

KAWARTHA LAKES-It’s been one of the highlights of the holiday season in Kawartha Lakes for 20 years, but this year it’s been cancelled.

The Fenelon Falls Santa Day committee announced late Tuesday night that Santa Day 2020 is cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“It was not an easy decision but we feel its what’s best for our community” the committee said in a letter to volunteers.

The cancellation also includes the parade and fireworks which were all scheduled for November 28th.

The group will still be decorating the village for the festive season. This will include the giant Christmas tree at the locks, a tree between Canadian Tire and Home Hardware, wreaths on the downtown light standards and many lights along the canal.

Santa Day is always the last Saturday in November, and it’s ALL free due to the generous support of the volunteers, community members, and local businesses that make this special day shine every year.

The committee hopes the event can return in 2021 and have set a tentative date for November 27th.
