Loaded handgun, fentanyl and cocaine seized in Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police seized a loaded handgun, fentanyl and cocaine in a raid at a hotel in Lindsay.

Police say on July 29, 2020 the Kawartha Lakes Police Service received a request from the Toronto Police Service to assist them in locating a “wanted” person who was believed to be staying at a hotel in Lindsay.  The Kawartha Lakes Police Street Crime Unit began conducting surveillance of the hotel. The wanted person was located, arrested and turned over to the custody of the Toronto Police.  During the investigation a search warrant was obtained to enter and search the room that had been occupied by the accused, along with two other men.

The search resulted in the seizure of 62.3 grams Fentanyl, 48.2 grams of cocaine, and a loaded Glock 19, 9mm handgun according to police.  The two men found in the hotel room were arrested and held in the custody of the Kawartha Lakes Police.

Charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited / restricted firearm, careless storage of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited / restricted firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking is 27-year-old Anthony Coore of Scarborough.  Charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited / restricted firearm, careless storage of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited / restricted firearm and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking is 19-year-old Jayden O’Connor of Ajax.

The two accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on July 30 for a bail hearing.
