Heat Warning issued for Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Southern Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

Officials say you should watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions. Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. When it’s hot eat cool, light meals and outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place according to officials.
