Oshawa man charged after police officer assaulted in Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 28 year old man from Oshawa is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer in Lindsay.

Police say on Thursday May 14, at 10:00PM an officer patrolling Kent Street West in Lindsay was flagged down by a member of the public and notified of a man causing a disturbance in front of a downtown restaurant.

The officer located the man acting erratically inside the restaurant, and as the officer entered the building the man locked himself in a women’s washroom according to police. After speaking briefly with the man through the locked door, the man exited the washroom and stormed at the officer. Police say a struggle ensued between the two, during which the man kicked the officer. The man was arrested and found to be in possession of a small amount of heroin, police say.
