KAWARTHA LAKES-The Kawartha Art Gallery has made a donation to the Bobcaygeon and Area COVID-19 Relief Fund in honour of Jean Pollock who passed away last Saturday fighting
“We lost a light in our community last week,” stated Gallery President, Doug Currie. “It was not only Jean’s passion for the arts, but her love for her community of Bobcaygeon that motivates this donation in her memory.”
Pollock was a gifted artist, long-time volunteer with the Kawartha Art Gallery, and sat on the Kawartha Art Gallery’s Board of Directors as Recording Secretary since 2012.
“Jean was spunky, stylish and passionate. Quick with a smile, a laugh and a wink,” added Mr. Currie. “She will be sorely missed.”

The Kawartha Art Gallery’s donation of $2,500 was made possible by a gracious estate gift to the gallery from well-known Bobcaygeon artist and community leader: Lois Smith Brennan last year. The Board of the Gallery honours both Lois Smith Brennan and Jean P. Pollock with this contribution.

The fund was set up to support the urgent needs of the community of Bobcaygeon after Jean and nine residents of Pinecrest Nursing Home died of Coronavirus.
The Bobcaygeon and Area COVID-19 Relief Fund is being managed by the Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes. “Jean was clearly a talented and loved woman in our community,” noted foundation President Mike Perry. “We are heart-broken for the loss of so many to this virus here in our area and are honoured to be able to use the foundation to help people and continue local legacies.”
The Kawartha Art Gallery has been in Lindsay for 40 years.
