Community answers the call for emergency medical supplies for paramedics

KAWARTHA LAKES-On March 23 Kawartha Lakes Paramedics put out a call for emergency medical supplies to keep staff safe and reduce transmission during the Coronavirus crisis. The community response was “overwhelming” according to officials.

“We are overwhelmed by the response from the community to our request. Many, many thanks. As we continue to fight the spread of COVID-19, we ask that anyone with the supplies listed come forward,” commented Chief Rafton, Kawartha Lakes Paramedics.

The following companies have also generously supplied gloves, masks, sanitizer, hazardous suits and face shields:

The following supplies are still needed:

·      N95 Masks – 3M1870+, 3M9210+ and 3M9211+

·      Surgical Gowns –disposable, elasticized cuffs, cover front and back with ties to fasten and be fluid resistant

·      Face Shields – need to cover the entire face, manufactured of a clear, anti-fog material, disposable, adjustable, be capable of being worn over eye glasses

·      Hand Sanitizer – be a minimum of 99.0% effective against a broad range of bacteria, be alcohol based with a minimum concentration 60%, be available in personal size containers

Anyone with a supply of the items listed is asked to contact the staff person below to determine pickup and delivery arrangements.
