Dunsford area family loses everything in house fire while they were at Sick Kids with child who is ill

KAWARTHA LAKES-The community is rallying around a Dunsford area family who has lost everything after their house burned down last night. The family wasn’t home at the time because they are at Sick Kids Hosptial with one of their children who is critically ill.

Fire crews were called to the home on Pleasant Point Road around 10:30 Tuesday night. The OPP is investigating the cause of the fire.

“When the going gets tough it just keeps getting tougher. We just lost our house and everything.” Fountain said on Facebook.

It was home to John Fountain, his wife and five kids. Fountain’s son Braedon was rushed to Sick Kids Hospital on March 7th. He was born premature on February 8th and spent his first three weeks in the Peterborough NICU and was sent home. A few weeks later his health deteriorated again and the baby was rushed to Sick Kids. While the couple was staying at Sick Kids to be with their son, their other kids were staying with family. Neither parent has been able to work since.
