Suspicious person reported by child walking to school in Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police are investigating after a child walking to school in south west Lindsay reported seeing a suspicious person recently.

The suspicious person did not communicate, nor have any physical contact with the young person during this incident according to police.

The Kawartha Lakes Police Service would like to remind parents and care givers to speak with their children regularly about their safety when travelling to school. Some discussion points to keep in mind include:

  • Walk with a friend or trusted adult whenever possible.
  • Pick a safe route to school; one that avoids dangers. Stick to the route you picked and don’t let friends talk you into shortcuts that might be dangerous.
  • Never hitchhike or accept rides from people not arranged by your parents.
  • Talk to your parents and teacher about any bullying that may happen during your walk, or if you are approached by a person who you don’t know.
  • Contact your teacher, crossing guard, parents or local police service immediately if you see something suspicious while you travel to school.
