Lindsay driver charged with having cannabis readily available

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Lindsay driver is facing charges after being stopped at a RIDE checkpoint.

Police say during the early morning hours of Sunday November 24, 2019, the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service’s RIDE team set up vehicle checkpoints at several locations throughout the Lindsay area.  One driver who was stopped by the RIDE team on Kent Street West in Lindsay was allegedly found to be in possession of cannabis and was charged with driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act. No name was released.

The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service will continue to have RIDE teams on patrol throughout the months of November, December and into the New Year.

Plan ahead and coordinate a ride home with a designated driver, taxi service or public transportation if you are going to be drinking or using cannabis this Holiday Season.
