KAWARTHA LAKES-Looking for some great deals on Canada’s favorite crayons, markers and more? Head to the great Crayola Sale and you will be helping to community as well.
Since the sale began, Crayola Canada has donated over $1,052,000 to the United Way for the City of Kawartha Lakes. This year the sale is a month later than the usual October date, but the same great deals will be available for shoppers, just in time for some early Christmas shopping!
Crayola Canada employees volunteer their time to help run the Sale and volunteers donate their time to help set up, run, and clean up after the event.
Crayola’s team is very enthusiastic about participating in this year’s sale. One Crayola Canada staff member expressed her pride: “United Way offers support to such a wide variety of people in a wide variety of ways especially the most vulnerable within our community. It’s good to know I contribute a tiny bit towards that.”
The excitement is in the air every year at the sale, another Crayola employee said “I love to walk the line before people enter the building. They are always so excited. It’s great to hear what they are hoping to find and knowing what’s inside you can give them a bit of a head start as to where to look. It’s the energy of the line that truly gets me motivated for the event.”
United Way has also partnership with the Crayola Canada team on another important project. They recently completed the first season of Edwin Binney’s Community Garden. A largescale food security project located on previously unused land at Crayola Canada in Lindsay. In the first season the garden was able to provide 5,428 pounds of fresh produce to community members who access local food security initiatives, including 11 agencies and 10 food banks. The partnership also provided food literacy learning opportunities to approximately 350 children ages 3 to 17 years old from local summer camps and schools.
The sale will take place on Saturday, November 16th from 8am-12pm at the Lindsay Exhibition Fairgrounds and is open to the public. All purchases at the sale must be made in cash.
