Missing person found dead in submerged vehicle near Haliburton

KAWARTHA LAKES-A missing person has been found dead in a submerged vehicle in Kushog lake near Haliburton.

Police say on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at approximately 9:00 p.m. members of the Haliburton Highlands OPP were called to investigate a missing person in Algonquin Highlands.

Police patrolled the area of Highway 35 and surrounding area. Today shortly after 8:30 a.m., the pickup truck of the missing person was located submerged in Kushog Lake next to the Highway by a family member.

OPP members from the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) attended and confirmed the deceased person inside the vehicle and assisted with the removal.

Highway 35 remain s closed while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction investigate and gather evidence.

No name has been released.
