Police looking for suspects after dog allegedly hit and killed by dirt bike

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes OPP are looking for help from the public after a beloved family pet was hit and killed by a dirt bike.

Police say on October 7, 2019 at approximately 8:50p.m. Zeus and his owner were walking along Mary Street in Omemee when three dirt bikes approached at a high rate of speed. One of the dirt bikes allegedly struck the dog on the roadway, resulting in the dog’s death a short time later.

The three dirt bikes, two red in colour and one yellow in colour, then fled westbound on Mary Street, to the entrance of the Great Canadian Trail at Sibley Avenue.

Anyone having information on this crime or any others is asked to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Information can also be reported anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or by going to www.khcs.ca and submitting an anonymous tip online.
