850 local CUPE members ready to strike on October 7th

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Canadian Union of Public Employees gave a five day notice ahead of a planned walkout scheduled to begin on Monday October 7th.

The union represents 55,000 education staff across the province and 850 within the Trillium Lakelands District School Board. The positions affected are Educational Assistants, clerical and custodial staff, IT staff and more.

CUPE is requesting that its negotiations with the Council of Trustees Associations and the Ontario government recommence on Friday to avoid a strike.
