Man charged after robbery, struggle with employee at Lindsay business

KAWARTHA LAKES-A scary shift for an employee at a local business after it was robbed Thursday morning.

Police say shortly after 11:00AM on September 5, 2019 a man entered a business on William Street south in Lindsay and demanded money from an employee. The man threatened that he had a weapon and struggled briefly with the employee before fleeing from the store according to police.

A City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service constable who was in the area observed the man fleeing from the store in the area of Lindsay Street. The officer followed the man and arrested him after a short foot pursuit. Charged with robbery and possession of property obtained by crime is 28-year-old Cody William Fountain of Lindsay.

On August 30th,2016 Fountain pled guilty to six counts of robbery using an imitation weapon and three counts of robbery after convenience stores in Peterborough were robbed. He also pled guilty to his charges of fraud accommodation, obstructing a police officer, two counts of theft under $5,000, assault and two counts of failing to comply with probation.
