Camp counsellor charged with sexual assault

DURHAM REGION-An 18 year old male camp counsellor has been charged with with inappropriately touching a six-year-old female at a week-long summer camp in Whitby.

Police say the incident allegedly occurred on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at a reptile zoo facility in Whitby. The six-year-old female victim was enrolled in a week-long summer camp when the single incident occurred.

When the accusation came forward, the facility was notified and the employee was immediately suspended from work according to police. Officers say the camp administrators have co-operated fully with this investigation.

18 year old, Quinn McGrath of Oshawa, has been charged with Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference. He was held for a bail hearing. If you have additional information about this investigation, please contact D/Cst. Baldini of the DRPS Sexual Assault Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5233.
